Invite you to bring your family, a picnic and
listen to the music of “Ron Carter and the
Bald Eagles”. Be inspired by Uplands Park.

The music tent and information tables will be at the grassy entrance to
Cattle Point at Beach Drive. Participate in invasive Scotch broom
removal and park clean-up and family activities like a Treasure Hunt,
Bubbles, and Face painting. Ramble on nature walks to enjoy the
wildflowers, rare plants and animals.

Walk with your Community Association starting from the Municipal Hall
at 11:00 am.

WALK, BIKE, BUS OR CARPOOL!
CELEBRATE YOUR COMMUNITY RAIN OR SHINE!

A big thank you to all participants in the first Oak Bay Community Services Expo. This event hosted by Denise Savoie with the support of your Community Association connected many organizations. The attendance was overwhelming. People met and spoke with representatives of many federal, provincial, local, private and public organizations. The overall response heard was how great it was to meet “face to face” with experts.

The Community Association of Oak Bay appreciates the participation of Denise Savoie, Ida Chong, Carole James and Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen and Council. It couldn’t have been done in such a short time frame without Donna Forbes and Sarah Nantel from Denise’s office who made it all possible!

The first meeting will be held Friday, November 4, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm in the Garry Oak Room at the Monterey Recreation Centre, 1442 Monterey Avenue.

The second meeting will be held Tuesday, November 8 from 7 to 9 pm in the Sanctuary at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2121 Cedar Hill Cross Road. Doors open at both events at 6:4pm.

The moderator will be Mr. Jamie Chicanot a partner in ADR Education. These meetings are sponsored by the Community Association of Oak Bay and the North Henderson Residents’ Association.

“Our Associations are pleased to sponsor these events. We hope these meetings will help voters make up their minds when choosing between two candidates for Mayor and among eleven candidates for six Council positions”, says spokesperson Jill Croft of the Community Association of Oak Bay.

We meet at Willows Beach Kiwanis Tea Room  and will work together to clean the beach of  hundreds of cigarette butts, bits of plastic, and all kinds of other surprises that you don’t want on your beach, in your ocean, or eaten by sea life.

Bring gloves, and bags for all the garbage and recycling collected.

Your Community Association wants you to join us with your bicycles, wagons, or even just your feet. We would love to see members out to have fun, and which will of course, draw new members. And you know how that works…the more, the merrier!

We are going to keep it simple again this year, with a no-emissions float…okay, small exception…we are keeping up the tradition of bubbles!  We ride our bikes or walk together, bubble wands in hand (which the kids watching seem to LOVE), we laugh, we carry our banner and we have a great time, all while raising our community profile.

The Annual Tea Party Parade is an Oak Bay tradition. If you’re just out to watch, it begins on Saturday at 10:30AM from Windsor Park. The 45 minute parade winds through the streets of Oak Bay, ending at Willows Beach Park.
