Lynne, Jill, Tom and Ken signed off on Monday, April 30th. The map has gone to press and we should have maps by the end of May.
Thanks to everyone who helped create this living work of art. There are so many to thank that we are planning a celebration to announce the map to the residents of Oak Bay.

Telephone numbers and email addresses for Oak Bay councillors and the mayor were added to the municipal website this week.

The recommendation was made by an ad hoc municipal committee that presented ways to improve relations between Oak Bay’s political leaders and the public.

The music tent and information tables will be at the grassy entrance to
Cattle Point at Beach Drive. Participate in invasive Scotch broom
removal and park clean-up and family activities like a Treasure Hunt,
Bubbles, and Face painting. Ramble on nature walks to enjoy the
wildflowers, rare plants and animals.

Walk with your Community Association starting from the Municipal Hall
at 11:00 am.

CELEBRATE YOUR COMMUNITY RAIN OR SHINE!

Your Community Association would like to invite you, your friends, family and neighbours to the Monterey Centre on Saturday, February 11 from 1 to 4pm for the first Community Services Expo, hosted by Victoria MP, Denise Savoie.
This free Expo will connect people with many community services offered throughout Oak Bay and Greater Victoria. Workshops and displays on how to steer through a wide variety of programs, Federal, Provincial, non-profits and local will be available. Folks will have an opportunity to speak face to face to experts in many disciplines – including – Bowker Creek Initiative, Canada Revenue Agency, Mary Manning Centre, UVic Continuing Studies and Oak Bay Green Committee – and many more.

Your Community Association wants you to join us with your bicycles, wagons, or even just your feet. We would love to see members out to have fun, and which will of course, draw new members. And you know how that works…the more, the merrier!

We are going to keep it simple again this year, with a no-emissions float…okay, small exception…we are keeping up the tradition of bubbles!  We ride our bikes or walk together, bubble wands in hand (which the kids watching seem to LOVE), we laugh, we carry our banner and we have a great time, all while raising our community profile.

The Annual Tea Party Parade is an Oak Bay tradition. If you’re just out to watch, it begins on Saturday at 10:30AM from Windsor Park. The 45 minute parade winds through the streets of Oak Bay, ending at Willows Beach Park.

The weekend of May 7th and 8th, there will be a number of Jane’s Walks throughout the region. You’ll get a little exercise, fresh air, and learn some things you likely never knew about the history of your neighbourhood, or even some of the issues facing it today.

For our part, the CAOB is leading a bike ride from UVic to Cattle Point via a route we like to call The Educational Corridor. The route starts from our University, passes Camosun College, Carnarvon Park (Preschool/Daycare), Oak Bay High School, SMU Jr. School, and Glenlyon Norfolk School, and lands us at Cattle Point where we’ll finish up with a picnic with the Friends of Uplands Park.

The Friends of Uplands Park are planning plenty of activities to participate in and enjoy all day!

9:00am —- Bird Walk at Cattle Point

11:00am —- Earth Day Bike Ride along the Oak Bay “Educational Corridor” starting at UVic, visiting Willows School, Oak Bay High, Monterey School, gathering riders at each school along the way.

11:00am —– An Earth Day Walk starting from UVic to end at Uplands Park.

12:00 Noon —- Picnic & Music: Walkers and bike riders and other participants arrive at Uplands Park for family & friends picnic

12:15 (or so) —- Official Welcome

1:00 —- Guided Nature Walks (1 walk will be at Cattle point; 1 walk will be along the trails in Uplands Park)
