(THE WILDFLOWER EDITION) Brought to you by CAOB…and nature!

Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 7:00 pm

Once again, we repeat the spring walk to feature the glorious, spring wildflowers and bird-songs in Uplands Park.

We start and end at Cattle Point parking lot off Beach Drive by Uplands Park.

This is an age- and family-friendly community initiative of

the Community Association of Oak Bay. Visit www.caob.ca  for details
Details for immediate release to Media, posted on the CAOB website
www.caob.ca, and sent to our growing number of regular walkers on our e-mail list:

Embrace the Night walks started on Valentine’s night February, 2014.

Our fourth walk of 2015 will be held Saturday, May 2. We’ll start out early enough to catch the sights and fragrances of blossoms by twilight, while hoping to catch a beautiful moonrise and sunset along the way.

We will start our walk at 7:00 PM from the Cattle Point parking lot off Beach Drive.

This time, Friends of Uplands Park (FOUP) founders, Margaret Lidkea and Kathleen Matthews will guide us on our route through this gem of Oak Bay’s natural area parks.  Our walk will feature viewing of the many spring, native wildflowers (Fawn Lilies, Shooting Stars, Camas, Chocolate Lilies and Buttercup, etc.) throughout the Garry Oak meadows of Uplands Park on Beach Drive.  Our timing should also provide opportunity to view the sunset and rising of the May full moon, accompanied by cheerful bird songs.

Come out and enjoy this beautiful and colourful natural park in Oak Bay, mixed with healthy exercise and meeting and talking with new friends.  This is an age- and family-friendly event; everyone is welcome.

Starting Time and Location:

Saturday, May 2 at 7:00 pm at the Cattle Point parking lot off Beach Drive.

The Route:

Through the trails of Uplands Park and return.

The Purpose:

To walk in the twilight with great company of all ages, enjoy the health benefits and (fingers crossed) catch a beautiful moonrise and sunset.

Finishing Time and Location:      Back to our start about 8:00 pm.

Note: Personal reflectors will be handed out.  Please wear comfortable footwear, bring water and hope for the best but prepare for worse, weather wise. We know you’ll have fun…..RAIN OR SHINE.
